Ohio CPR in Schools
CPR and AED Training in Ohio High Schools
Ohio law requires each public school that offers grades 9-12 to provide instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED) to all students. The American Heart Association is currently offering a free program to public high schools to assist in meeting this graduation requirement.
Since the 2017-2018 school year, The Ohio Legislature has mandated instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators AED in high schools.
House Bill 113 has updated the first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) curriculum requirement under Ohio law to include specific training and curriculum guides. You will find the additions in Ohio Revised Code 3313.6021.(link opens in new window)
