What is the Hispanic Serving Institution Scholars program ?

Access to education is a key factor to building better health equity across the country. The American Heart Association’s Hispanic Serving Institution Scholars program will serve as a pipeline for diverse researchers and health care professionals by providing undergraduate students with academic and career-enriching resources, including scholarships and mentoring.

The program will partner Hispanic-serving institutions and their students with the aim of increasing health care provider and research diversity by providing academic and career-enriching resources, including scholarships and mentoring.

Students accepted into the program will have the opportunity to engage in a virtual leadership and professional development series to enhance critical skills to position them for success beyond graduation. Sophomores, juniors and seniors who are highly motivated to seek careers in the biomedical or health sciences and have an interest in community engagement and impact should apply through Aug. 6, 2021.
