Digital Videos

Many AHA course videos are available in digital format, either for streaming in a web browser, or downloading for offline use with the AHA eBook Reader app.

DVD

AHA DVDs play on most Windows and Mac computers with an internal or external DVD drive, and set-top DVD players connected to a TV or projector. Please note that AHA does not specifically endorse or recommend specific media players. DVDs have been tested on the following software media players:

  • Windows 7
    • VLC Media Player
    • Cyberlink PowerDVD
    • Windows Media Player
  • Windows 10
    • VLC Media Player
    • Cyberlink PowerDVD
    • Windows DVD Player
    • Mac OS X Catalina
    • VLC Media Player
    • DVD Player

To play DVDs on Windows computers:

  • Insert disc into DVD drive
  • If DVD does not automatically start, open Windows Explorer and right-click on the DVD drive icon
  • Select “Play with [name of the desired software]

To play DVDs on Mac computers:

  • Insert disc into DVD drive
  • If DVD does not automatically start, launch the software player
  • If DVD Player, the disc automatically plays
  • If VLC Media Player, select File > Open Disc and navigate to the disc

USBs

American Heart Association (AHA) USB drives are compatible with Windows and Macintosh computers with standard USB-A ports. A USB hub or adapter may be used with computers that have USB-C ports. There is no need to download or purchase other software to operate the USB drives.

AHA USB drives are intended for use on either Windows or Mac. The player on the Heartsaver USB -- Flux Player -- is not supported on Chrome OS; Heartsaver USB drives currently do not work on Chromebooks.
